Comparison of cleaning new and old equipment

To investigate the material quality of TFM™-PTFE, digestions were performed using new and 7-year-old vessels. The older vessels were previously used in routine analysis for elemental determination in soil, wastewater, sediments, and plants.
In both types of vessels, plant material with known elemental content was digested with HNO3 and H2O2 in a microwave digestion system. The recovery rate of the elements is between 80 and 120%. Subsequently, the digestion vessels were simply rinsed with water and the solution obtained was measured. It can be clearly seen that sufficient purification effects could be achieved by rinsing with water.
